Sonia Garcia is a flamenco and classico espaniol teacher for 20 years. She started dancing at the age of 8 in Barcelona and finished with a BA and MA of flamenco and Spanish dance in the honorable instituto del teatro danza y coreografia de Barcelona. She has been dancing and performing with the leading dancing groups in Spain: Antologia de la zarzuela ,compania de danza colores de Maria Rosa Grau, compania Jorge Ramirez, certamem de coreografia de Madrid, compania de danza Montse Sanchez, Oyente del ballet Madrid de Jose Maria Granero in collaboration with Africa Moreno. Through all these years she was performing in Europe and was rewarded with best dancer and best choreographer prices in Spain and in Israel. ::: FLAMENCO ELEMENT – Jana Drdácká & Morenito de Triana - ND Brno 19.,20.,22.,24.2.,29.4.,5.5.2010. Flamenco Element, half-an-hour-intermezzo to ballet Carmen by Cayetano Soto is situated to the foyer of Janáčkovo theatre in Brno and it is a study of the female elements of flamenco dances. The choreographer and dancer JANA DRDÁCKÁ works with passion, freedom, pride, playfulness as well as agression of the archetypical Carmen via flamenco dances with typically female atributes such as the bata de cola, mantón, the fan and the castanuelas. The musical score is by the guitarist MORENITO DE TRIANA and you will hear Guajira, Tangos, Bulerías and Seguiriyas all interlined in a continuous musical poem. Traditional flamenco styles are interpreted by non-traditional grouping of guitar, piano, flute, violin and cajón. ::: CARMEN AND FLAMENCO - Svitavy July 1st 2010. The next showing of Carmen and Flamenco, the combined project of the opera singer Edita Adlerová and the flamenco dancer Jana Drdácká is in Svitavy on July 1st within the festival Smetanas Litomyšl. The performance interlaces arias of G.Bizets „Carmen“ with the Andalusian flamenco dances. Artists: e. adlerová – mezzosoprano, j. drdácká – flamenco dance and choreography, e. zubák – dance, m. žára – guitar and musical arrangement, m. cába – cajón, z. žorna – flamenco singing, p. križovenský - flute, j.pech - violoncello.
